 NEW YORK, NY (July 12, 2013)— Kulchured Media, a New York City based digital media company, announces the launch of Kulchured Networks, an online network of pop culture themed websites and online content focused on the “urban cool” segment of Pop Culture Enthusiasts. Kulchured Media’s goal is for the network to become the premiere online destination for this highly influential set tastemakers and trendsetters.

Focused on this unique segment of Pop Culture Enthusiasts, who are as much into sneakers and street art as they are into video games and the latest comic blockbuster, Kulchured Media explores the “cool kids” side of Pop Culture, and aims to be the online hub for what they describe as the “Cool Geek” market.

“Urban cool kids’ enthusiasm for comics and pop culture is an untapped market in mainstream media. If it’s cool, hip, and ‘in’, this group knows about it, talks about it, and influences others about it.” says company founder, Chris Walker. “My friends and I discuss this all the time – the way we’re into comic books and pop culture is very different from the ‘traditional geek’ or how their experience is portrayed in the media with characters like Comic Guy or Sheldon on shows like the Big Bang Theory.”

Kulchured Media’s flagship site,, is geared towards the Pop Culture Enthusiast who likes everything from comic books to urban vinyl, and binge view on shows like Arrested Development and Game of Thrones. Kulchured Media’s Knuff Said caters original online shows and content to the energetic Hip Hop/Comics Community who view comics and pop media as a narrative expression of Hip Hop and Urban Culture. Rounding out the initial slate of sites is Authentic, an artists interview and lecture site which takes audiences behind the scenes with the creators of their favorite comics, movies, and video games.

In addition, Kulchured Media will create original multimedia content such as Be Kulchured-’s online Talk Show, the Knuff Said Podcast- a rawkhus podcast about the current happenings in pop culture, Authentic Presents- an artists panel discssuion series, and This Is Not A Nerdcore Mixtape- a pop culture focused Hip Hop mixtape set to be released in late August /early September 2013. The company will also sponsor and produce offline events such as in-store signings, as well as promotions which coincide with various comic book conventions, including Comic Con.

Mr. Walker says Kulchured Media’s goal is to show a broader view of pop culture in efforts to attract the large and diverse audience that drives booming box office ticket sales for comic book based movies – an audience that is much broader than the typical comic book demographic, but which has proven its love of comic related media thru its spending power. Chris Walker is a veteran culture creator, whose resume includes working as a comic book artist for Marvel and DC Comics, and as a professional illustrator for clients such as Adidas Kids, Sony Pictures, Osiris Shoes, and Virgin Records.
